Jagjit Singh is one of the most popular Ghazal  singer composer, and musician known for his soulful voice and mastery over classical music.. His music is very melodious and his voice blends beautifully with the music. Jagjit Singh is the first person to be given the credit for taking the initiative to the common man by taking the ghazals which are considered to be the property of those who know pure Urdu , glimmering in the world of Nawabs-Rakkasas and boasting of wah-wah in the gatherings of poets. He was born on February 8, 1941, in the city of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, India. Singh started his musical journey at a young age and went on to become one of the most celebrated and beloved musicians in India.

Jagjit Singh’s family moved to Jalandhar, Punjab, where he received his formal education. During his college years, he developed a keen interest in music and began learning classical music from the renowned musician Pandit Chaganlal Sharma. Singh also received training in Western classical music, which gave him a unique edge in his musical style.

Jagjit Singh’s musical career took off in the 1970s, when he began composing and singing ghazals, a form of Urdu poetry that is set to music. He collaborated with many lyricists, including Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, and Nida Fazli, to produce some of the most memorable ghazals in Indian music history. His music was known for its soothing melody and heartfelt lyrics, and it resonated deeply with audiences across India and beyond.
